Project Objective

JavaLab is a new sit-down and take-out coffee shop in London, Ontario, built around one bold concept: what if a science lab and a specialty café shared a space? The founders needed a full brand identity that targeted at students and young adults looking for something fresh and experimental. The challenge was to build a system that felt modern and trend-forward without losing the quality-first credibility that coffee drinkers expect.


Solution

A competitive audit revealed that bubble tea–style cafés were dominating the youth market, leaving a clear gap for a coffee brand with real personality. JavaLab was positioned to fill it. The logo centers on a single strong concept: the letter J as a bubbling test tube with a coffee bean inside; instantly communicating the brand's science-meets-coffee identity. A futuristic wordmark and the tagline "Tested to Perfection" balanced playfulness with a quality-driven message. The colour palette of radiant green and rich coffee brown was selected for both emotional resonance and contrast accessibility, meeting colour accessibility guidelines across all applications. A custom brand pattern using bubbles, coffee beans, and chemistry symbols was developed from the logo's core elements, giving the system versatility across packaging, signage, and digital use.


Final Deliverables

JavaLab launched with a cohesive, scalable brand identity that stands out in a crowded café market. Every touchpoint from the logo mark to the packaging pattern, works together to tell a consistent story, giving the brand a strong foundation for physical and digital growth. The completed brand identity package made a measurable impact on their audience which helped JavaLab establish a confident market presence connect with their target audience.
